U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Project Harmony

Teacher Projects:
 Susan Lieberg & Vardanush Hovhannisyan

U.S. School: Greenbush Middle River School
Location: Greenbush, Minnesota

Armenian School: Karbi V.Tekeyan Secondary School
Location: Aragatsotn region, Ashtarak, village Karbi

Vard and I planned several short projects based on a "Top Ten" theme. Jointly, we will complete brochures & newsletters covering the "Top Ten" sites of Aragotsotn, Minnesota, Armenia, the United States, Historical Events in Armenia and the United States, and the top ten historical figures in both countries.

We thought the top ten format would work well for a number of reasons. Her students are new learners of English, and to write short, concise paragraphs would be a good way to practice their new skills. These projects involved internet research, so students will need to practice their research skills and their information literacy. The end project involves desktop publishing, another useful computer skill.
