Teacher Projects:
Judy Pulczinski & Naira Avanesyan
U.S. School: Greenbush/Middle River School Greenbush, MN
Armenian School: Kapan School #1 Syunik Region, Kapan
Naira Avanesyan (Kapan School #1) and Judy Pulczinski (Greenbush/Middle River School, Minnesota) have collaborated
with their project called, “A Culture Dialogue”. The students are discussing Armenian and American holiday traditions.
Both groups of students are similar in age, but are taking different coursework. The American students are writing
newspaper articles that have been published in our school newspaper. They will compile those articles to make a book to
share with the Armenian students. American students meet twice a week, and read our Webx postings, and add comments,
questions and pictures. The students are also taking part in the live chat the WebX format provides. All of this
plus some extra research enables them to learn more about each other’s countries, cultures and people. This project
started in October and will continue throughout the school year. Other staff members are taking part in the Connected
Minds curriculum. School administration is very supportive of online collaborations with students from other countries and
cultures and is encouraging as many students as possible to be exposed to the Project Harmony programs.
