  Simferopol / Greenfield: Phase I

Greenfield Mayor Timothy T. Seider presents the American flag to Major-General Vasyl Zhuk.

From March 30 - April 13, 2001, the Greenfield Police Department, Greenfield, Wisconsin welcomed 10 Ukrainian participants to Milwaukee County for the first phase of the Simferopol Law Enforcement Exchange Progarm. The program focused on community policing methods, crime prevention techniques, police training, domestic violence prevention and intervention, and juvenile drug prevention strategies. The Wisconsin law enforcement community (Milwaukee and Dane counties) shared its experience in community policing and provided concrete examples and exposure to nationally acclaimed programs and widely accepted policing strategies. The itinerary, developed by the Greenfield Police Department in collaboration with Project Harmony, incorporated adult-learning techniques and interactive, hands-on training scenarios to meet the goals of the program.
