On March 11-15, 2002 a training seminar on prevention of negative behavior among teenagers took place in Veliky Novgorod. The seminar was based on the hands-on lessons on DOM teaching methodology.

The co-author of this program, candidate of Medical sciences, S.V. Goranskaya and senior teacher of the Karelian State Pedagogical University Larisa Yurievna Ivanova (Petrozavodsk) acted as trainers. The major goal of the seminar was to prepare specialists for drug prevention program implementation in city schools.

The trainers conducted a series of 13 school lessons aimed at drug - abuse prevention (tobacco, alcohol and other substance abuse included), and also delivered a range of lectures on the following topics: "Drugs: addiction and consequences", "Psychosexual development of children and teenagers", "Juvenile age psychology", "Prostitution".

Apart from this the participants obtained information on drug and HIV spread dynamics in Veliky Novgorod, which the leading narcologist in Novgorod region Streltsov V.F. introduced. Mityunov A.G., the head of the juvenile police department unit, UVD of V. Novgorod, talked about the results of the police and education collaboration. Samushenkova T.G., the deputy head of the City social committee and public health in Veliky Novgorod Administration, represented the complex program implementation directed against substance abuse.

Along with that the teachers attended DOM lesson at school # 19 and met with the leaders of TPSD and of the Healthy Life Style School.

74 specialists got trained, among them there were social teachers of city schools, inspectors of the police juvenile affairs department, UVD, social workers from some municipal institutions. At the end of the seminar 65 participants, having successfully and fully got through the education, received certificates. After that the press conference took place, where journalists were able to ask "Project Harmony, Inc." staff and program trainers their questions.

DOM lessons are being conducted in the school # 19 for kids with behavioral problems, are about to be conducted in school # 34. Apart from this DOM curriculum will be implemented in the Healthy Life Style School, which deals with the students of the 7, 9 and 10 grades from all the city schools.
