  Program Overview
Community Connections Mission Statement 2003-2004: Community Connections develops relationships between the people and communities of Vermont and Europe/Eurasia through innovative and mutually beneficial professional and cultural exchanges.

Kazakhstan Business Internship Program with CC Hosting Program Staff.
The Community Connections program is a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It offers homestay-based practical training opportunities in the U.S. for entrepreneurs, local government officials, legal professionals, non-governmental organization leaders and other professionals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan (currently referred to by the U.S. State Department as Europe/Eurasia).

There are two types of Community Connections programs:
Business Programs are for English-speaking professionals who come to the United States on four-week internship training programs. They receive some group training on business topics, but during the majority of the program participants work in individualized internships with businesses similar to their own. Professional Programs are three weeks long and are organized around a particular theme, for example, urban planning, youth advocacy, and information & access. Participants on the professional programs do not need to speak English to qualify for the program.

Participants in Community Connections programs are selected through a highly rigorous, merit-based process.
Participants are selected based on their interest and ability in acquiring skills related to their professional work. Project Harmony maintains a results-oriented philosophy in organizing Community Connections programs. Upon successfully completing a program, each participant should be able to innovate within their own work environment to improve and enhance their professional lives.

Project Harmony will hold all Community Connections hosting programs during the 2003-2004 schedule within Vermont. Project Harmony is grateful to the organizations, companies, host families and individuals in the Vermont community whose contributions and support are reflected in the program's success.
