2001 On-line Program in Pskov, Russia: Pskov Partners
Humanities Lyceum #15

Humanities Lyceum was founded in 1967 and currently serves approximately 750 students, ages 7 through 17. Admission is competition-based.

In grades 5 and 8 students take a series of test designed to establish their ability to keep up with the curriculum. At this point students from other Pskov schools who wish to continue their education at the Lyceum can take the tests and be admitted, based on the results.

Every year the Lyceum graduates 90 students. 95%-97% choose to continue their education at colleges and universities.

The school has wide international contacts. We have partner school in the US, Germany, Holland and France. The exchange programs we take part in help our students understand other cultures, and contribute to the development of language-teaching at the school.

Galina Maslova teaches the US participants a Russian song at the welcome party.

Galina Maslova: An English teacher at the Humanities Lyceum, Galina is also the coordinator of international exchange activities. Galina has been the main organizer for our program, putting together the professional program and working with host families. She has also been an active player in Project Harmony's School Linkage Program. The Lyceum has been involved in a partnership with Shaker Heights High School in Ohio for the past four years. Galina traveled to Ohio with one of the student delegations, and helps put together hosting programs for the Shaker Heights students when they travel to Pskov.
