The Legislative Education and Practice (LEAP) Follow-On Program began in 2006 with support from the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Moscow. The LEAP Follow-On Program is designed to provide young men and women who intern with LEAP and learn about democratic processes with opportunities to share their firsthand experiences of how political processes in the US address public concerns. By sharing experiences of US and Russian political processes, the LEAP Follow-On Program encourages Russian youth to contribute to, and participate in, local civic opportunities, thereby taking their experience of learning about advocacy and putting it into action. As part of the program, the alumni give presentations to their peers and other community members at local universities, international clubs, and local and regional leaders. The program culminates with an On-Line Congress, which engages youth in innovative Russian-based legislative simulations and a videoconference.
