KATHERINE CADWELL
I am one of the original founders of Project Harmony, which began in 1985. At that time I was teaching civics and social studies at the local high school in our small town in Vermont. As the organization grew, I left my teaching position and have continued to work at Project Harmony in a variety of capacities. I have done almost every job that exists in the organization-- program planning, grant writing, professional development, staff training- you name it! More than anything else, I love working with teenagers and have specialized in developing leadership training programs for teens.
I have worked with many groups of teens from Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Europe to explore ways in which all of us can work to make our world a better place. I have also taught at Middlebury College and the University of Vermont and have written numerous books for teachers on teaching about global issues. I am very excited about this program and can tell you that one of my guiding principles is " None of us is as smart as all of us!" I am looking forward to meeting you!

I am new to Project Harmony this year and very excited to be part of this incredible project. Presently I am the Digital Media Technology Specialist at Middlebury College in Vermont. I teach and support advanced multimedia applications including audio and video editing, digital photography, multimedia production for the web, weblogs and streaming media. I am a writer and video artist and have worked in higher education since 1995. The students I typically work with at Middlebury with are much like those in the Flex/TAP program -- bright, motivated and eager to take on new challenges. I consider my interactions with students as the most important aspect of my job and I am always amazed at their creativity and insight. I look forward to meeting you in Vermont!

My current role at Project Harmony is manager of the FLEX Technology Ambassadors Program (FLEX-TAP). In that capacity, I am responsible for the overall design, management and implementation of the program, which provides technology and leadership skills to 30 Eurasian high school students per program year. This will be my third year of involvement with this program, and I have found working with these students to be truly energizing and inspiring.
I have also worked with University level teaching students who traveled to Pskov and St. Petersburg to experience Russian culture and educational systems. In addition to program work, I have been involved in grant writing and editing at Project Harmony. I hold a Bachelors degree in Philosophy from Trinity College in Vermont. Take a look at Bonnie's new digital story "Pages."

I grew up in Hinesburg, VT, the youngest of four siblings. Before working for Project Harmony, I spent a year as an AmeriCorps member, serving the immigrant and refugee population in Burlington, VT. Prior to AmeriCorps I spent close to a year volunteering in Macedonia, where I taught English and computer classes to Kosovar refugees. I have a BA in International Development and Social Change from Clark University in Worcester, MA. I currently live in Burlington with my husband Gardijan, where I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time in the green mountains of Vermont.
