CC Alumna Promotes Youth Sports in Azerbaijan Posted: 05/07/2008

During her time in the U.S. on the Community Connections Youth and Amateur Sports exchange, Malahat Tagiyeva was inspired by the level of support for youth activities from government agencies, NGOs and businesses. With new skills and resources from the CC program, Tagiyeva, Deputy Head of the Lenkaran City Youth and Sports Department, is now actively campaigning for increased community involvement in youth programs.

New Caucasus-based Publication Sheds Light on Corruption and Bias Posted: 04/29/2008

Anna Lebedeva, a Rostov-on-Don Community Connections Russia alumna, participated in CC training in the United States in April and May 2007. Lebedeva, a correspondent for the Novaya Gazeta and the Southern Russia Glasnost Defense Foundation, was drawn to the Investigative Journalism and Corruption Prevention program’s emphasis on the detrimental effects of corruption, and was subsequently inspired to launch her own newspaper.

CC Participant Performs in Uzbek Drama at Dartmouth College Posted: 04/16/2008

Dartmouth College is honored to present Ilkhom Theatre’s performance of White White Black Stork at the Hopkins Center in Hanover, New Hampshire, on April 18th and 19th. Adapted from stories by Abdullah Kadyri, White White Black Stork is the story of a Sufi Muslim boy and girl from Tashkent, who fall in love but must submit to marriages arranged by their parents.
